If you grew up in a more literalist evangelical culture like me, then most likely, as your framework of Christian faith expanded, deepened, or dwindled, the Old Testament became a source of consternation, questions, ethical quandaries, and perhaps even anxiety. It has been all of those things to me at one time or another.
